"Having approached her with a request to conduct writing master‑classes in a psychiatric institution, Natalie Skovronek, who had never done this before, wonders what she can offer people with mental disorders. Nevertheless, not understanding the reasons, she agrees…" As the sessions progress, the author shares herself and answers the patients' questions from the Saules master‑classes. A reversed‑mirror game unfolds before the readers, in which these writing master‑classes, far from being ordinary occupational activities, serve both the patients and the author herself.
Can art heal? During this meeting and in the conversation between Natalie Skovronek and Yann Diner, discover a text that brings benefit. A text about the power of writing and the ability of reading to put words in place of pain, to express the complexity of the mind, human suffering, to formulate anxieties and the surrounding chaos.
Natalie Skovronek — a Belgian writer born in 1973. She worked in publishing and fashion before releasing a family trilogy published by éditions Arléa ("Karen et moi", "Max, en apparence", "Un monde sur mesure"). In 2024, Grasset also publishes "La voix des Saules" (éd. Grasset, 2024) and "Chienne de guerre" (éd. Cotcotcot, 2024). She also led a writing master‑class for the Antonin Artaud club, a day center for adults with psychological difficulties. Since September 2023 she has been teaching romantic writing at the Sorbonne.
Yann Diner — a psychoanalyst in Paris, member of École lacanienne de psychanalyse, columnist for Charlie Hebdo and host of a seminar called "La mâchoire de Freud". Based on his research he released two recent books "L’inconscient inculqué à mon ordinateur" (éd. Premier Parallèle, 2025) and "La mâchoire de Freud" (éd. Gallimard, coll. L’Arpenteur, 2024). He works at Sainte‑Anne hospital, where he created the laboratory "Inconscient et machines".
