Started at the end of the xixe century, this immigration from Balkan Europe finds its place in the Popincourt district. From rue Sedaine to the synagogue square on rue de la Roquette, streets, shops and cafés come back to life under the pen of Ariane Bois in Le Monde d’Hannah, inspired by the story of her mother, a Turkish Jew. The tour is accompanied by excerpts from the book and specifically retraces the history of these Djudyos, of their settlement during the darker times of the Occupation persecutions.
At the end of the tour, the Mémorial offers you an exceptional meeting, at the Mémorial de la Shoah, with Claudine Esther Barouhiel, author of the book Les Djudyos du 11e arrondissement de Paris, Éditions Glyphe, 2024.
Duration: 1h30.
