Born in the 1990s in the heart of British raves and pirate radio stations, the jungle has turned everything around. His secret? An ultra-fast assembly of curly breaks and sounds imported by Afro-Caribbean populations in the United Kingdom. More than 30 years after its first golden age, the jungle has not taken a wrinkle and even today invites itself into mainstream pop thanks to sizes like Nia Archives. We set up at the Club Immersif with journalist Rachel Mbiga Epelbaum to trace the story. Come and capture how this genre traveled from underground depths to the tops of the English charts.
What's the CLUB OF SAINT-WEAR COMMUNITY?
While the musical offer offered by streaming platforms continues to grow, the audience is lost in sound meanderings without having the opportunity to understand what is going on in the songs that rhythmize their lives. Together with the Club d'Écoute de Communale Saint-Ouen, we give keys to understanding musical genres that have marked current music, using specialists who decrypt playlists.
Organized in the club space of Communale Saint-Ouen, each session consists of a listening time where one broadcasts a series of key pieces by commenting on them and relying on images (clips, posts, and photos) of the period, and ends with a DJset tribute to the genre represented.
