Antoine Bourdelle has a deep admiration for Ludwig van Beethoven, a figure of romantic genius whose commitment and creative power he celebrates.
On the occasion of the Heritage Days, Les Folies du temps perform the Serenade Opus 8 (1796), a youthful work of the composer still marked by the classical heritage, where violin, viola and cello converse in equal parts in a play of variations and contrasts. The program is completed by an Aubade for flute and string trio by François Devienne, revealing, as in Beethoven, the influence of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Joseph Haydn.

Les Folies du temps
In 2009, Sylvie Pascal, Jean-Christophe Marq and Olivier Dejours combined their experiences, tastes and aspirations and created Les Folies du temps. From that moment, they chose to prioritize within the company the relationship between music and theatre: chamber operas, melodramas, staged concerts… thereby highlighting the importance of dramaturgy in music, even purely instrumental. Thus several operas were created (Didon et Énée, Orlando furioso, Le Combat de Tancrède et Clorinde…), staged concerts (La Passion selon St-Jean, Jean-Sébastien Bach entre mesure et démesure), melodramas (Le Chant du cavalier bleu, Onomata, Sept paroles), youth performances (Ulysse, Proserpine, Phaéton). The musicians of Les Folies du temps are committed to playing on ancient or “modern” instruments according to the demands of the works they perform (from the 17th century to today). A taste for fantasy and a touch of madness bring together the company’s musicians and singers as well as the desire to bring “old” music into the present and to interpret today’s works with the culture of the works that preceded them.
