World First Aid Day is an annual event dedicated to raising awareness and learning life‑saving techniques. Organized each September, this day aims to promote the importance of first aid in accident prevention and risk reduction in emergencies. It mobilizes many humanitarian, health and rescue organizations worldwide to encourage public training in first‑aid measures.
World First Aid Day was established in 2000 by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). This initiative is part of the organization’s humanitarian mission, which has been working since its founding to disseminate knowledge on emergency rescue. Since then, the day has been celebrated each year in many countries, with educational activities and awareness campaigns.
Program
Cardiac massage introductions: Free workshops teaching essential first‑aid techniques, especially for cardiac‑respiratory arrest, will be offered to the public. These introductions will allow participants to learn how to handle cardiac emergencies and become familiar with the use of automated external defibrillators.
Prevention and first‑aid introductions for children: Raising awareness from a young age is a crucial step in training future citizen‑rescuers. This workshop, aimed at children aged 3 to 10, will help them acquire simple, everyday useful reflexes, particularly regarding home‑risk prevention and first aid.
Visit to a First‑Aid Vehicle for Persons: This activity will give the public, especially younger attendees, the opportunity to explore the interior of a rescue vehicle in an educational and reassuring setting. Presented by passionate rescuers, the visit will help better understand the role of onboard equipment and how rescue interventions work.
Information booth: This space will be dedicated to presenting the various missions of the French Red Cross as well as volunteer involvement. Participants will be able to discover all locally carried‑out activities in first‑aid training, emergency and rescue, social action, mental health and support for vulnerable populations.Let's do your assessment: This animation will offer participants the chance to discover one of the essential steps in first‑aid care: conducting the assessment. Through an immersive and educational scenario, the audience will be able to understand how first responders look for vital emergencies, evaluate a victim’s condition, and gather the information needed for appropriate care.
Demonstrations: educational demonstrations will also be offered two or three times during the day to showcase different techniques used in rescue interventions.
The Paris firefighters will be by our side to present their Vehicles of Rescue and Assistance to Victims and will give a presentation of their complementary Victim Rescue equipment (blade‑proof vest, Nuclear, Radiological, Chemical and Biological material related to SAV…).
