The Old Paris Commission has been working since 1897 to preserve Paris' heritage by offering its expertise and advice to elected representatives of the city. The Department of History of Architecture and Archaeology of the City of Paris (DHAAP) ensures the preservation of its administrative and scientific archives, but also of a photographic fund dedicated to the changing capital which, opened in 1916, was never closed. This documentation centre, open to the public by appointment, is to be discovered as part of a guided tour of the European Heritage Days.
