Since 2020, the Musique(s) Rive Gauche festival has presented creation music in always new formats and for all audiences.
This year, our edition is especially aimed at young audiences, from toddlers to teenagers, on the occasion of three musical performances.

A family dinner. And in the middle of the living room, a giant acacia. In With Feet, Jeanne Desoubeaux blends theatre and music to compose a story, funny and joyfully off‑beat, where the intrusion of the Other disturbs the most established habits.
At the Moute’s, everything starts as usual. Or almost. Because this tree, appearing without warning, upends the family balance. The Father opposes it, clinging to his certainties. The Mother lets it happen, with an inexplicable lightness. The Child, a strange and luminous figure, opens another path, toward curiosity. Written by Nicole Genovese, with live music composed by Jérémie Arcache, this burlesque and sensitive fable makes this vegetal emergence a driver of transformation. The tree becomes what displaces, unsettles and forces a change of perspective.
Accessible to young viewers, this mischievous tale plays with contrasts, between humor and unease, absurdity and emotion. An invitation to welcome the unexpected, and to look differently at what grows, there, in the middle of our lives.

The Little Book of Big Things – Linda Edsjö & Wilfried Wendling, after The Little Book of Big Things by Sophie Vissière

The images in Sophie Vissière’s book evoke all the senses: sight, touch, smell, taste and hearing. The child’s gaze lands elsewhere and differently from the adult’s, and so does their attention. For the sound installation, Linda Edsjö focused on a few images that sparked very strong sound associations: under a tree, children build a tower, a boy gently caresses his mother’s belly, a girl falls asleep listening to her father’s voice and also at the beginning of the book, the series of images creates a very marked rhythm! To recreate these spaces and actions, she used field recordings, object sounds and a few instruments. Voices as well, hers and those of her close ones. And little melodies appear, like birds landing on a tree.Sunday November 15, 2026

MINIMAL – Les Percussions de Strasbourg – Works by Camille Pépin, Steve Reich, Nik Bärtsch, Shelley Washington, Yang Song

MINIMAL is a program of four works offering a look at minimalist music through four composers. Mallet Quartet, the work by Steve Reich, an iconic figure of the movement, allows tracing its history, from its invention to its current influences. The piece Sunday by Shelley Washington offers a contemporary minimalism while Camille Pépin proposes a narrative vision, where emotion takes precedence over repetitive mechanics. Finally, Nik Bärtsch explores the meditative and spiritual aspect of Zen minimalism. Built for a percussion quartet (two marimbas and two vibraphones), this program highlights the rich sound and enchanting resonance of these instruments. Between homage to the masters and new perspectives, MINIMAL invites an immersion in a minimalism of multiple forms, where each note opens a new horizon.
