The Essentials Festival is a cultural event open to all, family, intergenerational, mixed, multicultural, traveling and completely free.
It is held from 1 to 9 August 2025 in Montreuil and Gennevilliers as well as at the Portes de Paris, and is aimed at a wide and diverse audience. On this occasion, demanding and accessible artistic programming is proposed at the heart of the neighbourhoods, with the aim of encouraging the encounter between the public and the works.
Artists from all over France, carefully selected for the quality of their work and the richness of their universes, come to meet the inhabitants to make live a singular, festive and inclusive cultural experience.
We will start this festival on Saturday 1st August at the Place du 14 July (Cité de l'Espoir) in Montreuil:
From 3pm to 7pm, enjoy our numerous stands and live entertainment: a graphic creation workshop with Sun.C to collectively create the large banner of the Festival des Essentoires, games and the open-air library of La Rue Rale, as well as an environmental awareness stand held by an association of the neighborhood.
At 3:30 p.m., the Returnamont Company seized the city walls with "Environnement Vertical", a magnificent performance where the grace of two dancers transformed architecture into a place of performance.
At 4 p.m., discover the AFAG company's "Wonder of Our Dreams", a musical tale full of action, guitars, flutes and trumpets intended for children to make them want to invent their own stories.
From 16h30 to 18h30, the Company Retouramont returns for "Hisse émoi", a unique experience where young and old discover their city from above, raised by their own neighbours and friends.
At 17h, dance place with the Hip hop show of the company Jeanne Chassin , followed at 17h30 by a workshop to introduce you yourself to Hip Hop dance.
And to close this beautiful first day, at 6 p.m., the group Algero-québécois Labess will come up on stage to make you vibrate at the rhythm of rumba, flamenco and chaâbi music, offering a singular musical path beyond borders.
The Sunday 2 August program at the Jardin de la Gare de Charonne (Porte de Montreuil) in the 20th, from 4pm to 7pm:
At 4pm, "La Bad'J Parade" will launch the festivities with a musical show specially designed for children.
At 4:30 p.m., François Godard and the Concerned Suspended propose to you "Rosa 1973", a highlight that recounts in music the creation of Emmaus communities in the face of the rising social crisis.
And to finish the afternoon dancing, at 5.30 pm, Solorkstar will come to warm the atmosphere with the music of the Balkans.
For Tuesday 4 August in the 12th, at the level of the Avenue Lamoricière (Porte de Vincennes) from 4pm to 6pm:
We will have the pleasure of finding the show "The fabric of Our Dreams" of the AFAG Company, as well as the play "La Tosca" performed by the Moon company in the Eyes.
Then, for Wednesday 5 August at the Jardin Binet (Porte de Montmartre) in the 18th, from 3pm to 7pm:
From 3pm to 7pm, find La Rue Râle's workshop with games and books for children.
At 3pm, AFAG will present "L'Etoffe de nos rêves", a poetic and interactive reflection on how to make tales more accurate (from 5 years old).
At 4pm, there is room for movement with the Sanke Company, which will offer you a show mixing dance and acrobatics by artists from Latin America and West Africa.
At 5 p.m., the Compagnie La Lune in Les Eux will present its superb theatrical adaptation of "La Tosca", Puccini's famous opera.
And at 6.30 p.m., to conclude in beauty, the band Trab Teräpy (carried by the hybrid music of Sidi Watcho's Said) will come joyfully mix rai, electro and rap.
On Thursday 6 August, the festival will stop at Gennevilliers Plateau Chateaubriand and Saad Abssi esplanade:
From 3pm to 7pm, the public space will liven up with our continuous workshops. Children and families can enjoy outdoor wooden games and a small outdoor library while participating in environmental awareness.
It will also be a unique opportunity to participate in a Circassian workshop to discover and introduce acrobatic practices alongside Sanke Company artists.
At 3:30 p.m., the AFAG Company will open the festivities with "The fabric of our dreams", a rhythmic interactive tale full of action and music, specially designed from 7 years to give children all the keys to invent their own stories.
At 4:30 p.m., La Bad'J's slow and family stroll with its show "La Paix!". A joyous and moving parade that grabs the street to make you laugh and maybe even think the whole neighborhood.
At 5:00 p.m., prepare for a spectacular trip with the Sanke Company. Their vibrant and warm performance combines dance with high-flying acrobatics, carried by the fantastic energy of artists from Latin America and West Africa to bring together all generations.
And to finish this beautiful day at 6:00 p.m., Träb Terapy will be on stage. Saïd (Sidi Wacho) will grab microphones with an over-flying and festive mix mixi
