With a sober vocabulary, Este Mundo transforms everyday gestures – simple, repetitive, sometimes fragile – by associating them with body states inspired by air, light, heat, weight and stability. Each of the five performers of the Dançando com a Diferença troupe – composed of a majority of artists with disabilities – develops its own state: in Bárbara the movement around lightness; in Sofia verticality and power; to Sarah heat and energy; in Telmo weight and stability; Joana suspension and balance. In playwright and choreographer attentive to play, detail and relations between the performers, Bouchra Ouizguen works what circulates between bodies, sound and light. Echoing the attention of the Portuguese writer Fernando Pessoa to the interior landscapes and the reflection of the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwich on what is transmitted beyond words, Este Mundo embraces what is rarely expressed: silence, gaze and breath. With this play, the Moroccan choreographer continues to work through – for more than 15 years – a strong relation to ritual and everyday life. The plateau is a common space where the singularities of each person meet.
