On October 2, Nicosia will become a gathering place for lovers of contemporary and experimental music. Ensemble Klang Systematiek—an international ensemble performing its program in Cyprus for the first time—will take the stage at The Shoe Factory.
The concert will open the 17th Pharos International Festival of Contemporary Music and will be one of the highlights of its program.
Ensemble Klang Systematiek was founded by clarinetist Gareth Davis and brings together leading musicians from various European countries. The ensemble’s members work across a wide range of musical genres—from contemporary classical and electronic music to improvisation and experimental art.
The ensemble’s musicians represent well-known groups and creative collectives. This diversity of musical experience creates a unique space where different traditions, styles, and perspectives on contemporary music converge.
The central idea behind Ensemble Klang Systematiek is to transcend the conventional boundaries between composition and performance, to take a fresh look at the very sound of music, and to create an extraordinary musical experience for the audience.
The concert will feature a special program including world premieres of works by Stavros Hoplaros, Arturo Corrales, and Barbara Monk Feldman, as well as Cypriot premieres of works by Kaija Saariaho, Oscar Bianchi, Jürg Frey, and George Christofi.
