Nature, wildflowers and cyanotype meet in Πεδουλά and Άγιο Θεόδωρο Πιτσιλιάς, in free experiential workshops for young and old
A creative journey into the Cypriot countryside through the art of cyanotype is offered by the experiential workshop “Nature, Sun and Cyanotype in the Village”, which runs from August to October in Πεδουλά and Άγιο Θεόδωρο Πιτσιλιάς, as part of the 2026 Cultural Decentralization Program.
Guided by artist Ελένη Φιλίππου (The.Curious.Curly), participants will discover cyanotype, one of the oldest camera-less photographic techniques, which was developed in 1842 and uses sunlight to create characteristic blue photograms.
The activity starts on 13 August at the Κέντρο Περιβαλλοντικής Εκπαίδευσης Πεδουλά and continues on 14 August at the φυσιοθεραπευτήριο του Κοινωφελούς Ιδρύματος του Αγίου Θεοδώρου Πιτσιλιάς.
The workshops combine art, nature and history, inviting young and old to explore the plants and wildflowers of the Cypriot outdoors, to wander the landscapes of the two mountain communities and to create their own works using only light-sensitive materials, natural elements and sunlight.
At the end of each session, participants will take home their own botanical cyanotypes as a souvenir of the experience.
The activity is aimed at individuals aged 8 and up, requiring no prior experience, encouraging creative expression and the meeting of different generations through contact with nature. Upon arrangement, some workshops can also be conducted in English.
The workshops are carried out in collaboration with the local communities and participation is free, with prior reservation required.
