The ancient legend of Cassandra comes alive on stage with the seal of the iconic figure of European cinema – and legend of the French stage Fanny Ardant with the accompaniment of a symphonic orchestra.
The work “Cassandra” is a modern opera – monologue set to music by the Swiss composer Michel Zarel. The myth of Cassandra unfolds through the obsessive internal monologue of a woman who is face to face with death. The heroine watches helplessly her world collapse, while in her mind memories and truths that marked her life return. The work is commented on as a deep and vulnerable monologue presented through the dynamism of the female form.
The production of “Cassandra” is a large‑scale undertaking that concludes under the direction of Hervé Luquemol. It is based on the eponymous novel by the German author Krista Wolf.
