Haris Roma brings his hilarious and moving comedy back to the island, with a select cast of actors and performances in five cities.
After its successful presentation last May, “The Princess of the Holy Forty” returns to Cyprus for a major tour. Haris Roma’s new comedy will be staged from November 6 to November 15 in Nicosia, Limassol, Paphos, Larnaca and Paralimni, for a total of ten performances.
A story full of laughter, twists, romance and unexpected tenderness, the play starts from a lie that grows dangerously. Pamainos, a publisher with an overblown ego and minimal ethical resistance, tries to convince an English investor, a friend of the blue-eyed, that his wife is a former princess of Albania.
His decision triggers a storm of misunderstandings, revelations and incredible comedic situations. Lies, loves, betrayals, unfaithful spouses and mischievous secretaries intertwine in a fast‑paced prank that, where everything seems to serve only laughter, leaves room for emotion and human tenderness.
“The Princess of the Holy Forty” is not limited to a comedy of misunderstandings. Through humor it touches the decay of marriage, racial and age discrimination, women’s empowerment, and the need of every person to feel important and claim their dignity.
The text and direction are signed by Haris Roma, who stars alongside Ava Galanopoulou, Sofia Pavlidou, Michalis Iatropoulos, George Amoutza, Katerina Nikolopoulou and Alexandros Theodoropoulos. The song of the play, titled “Unyielding,” is performed by Julia Karapataki.
