A major figure of the “new” Lebanese scene, Khouloud Yassine conducts a choreographic research that questions the performativity of gender and the impact of hypermasculinity on the representation of the female body and its objectification.
In Drill Baby Drill, which was one of Donald Trump’s campaign slogans, she explores the cold brutality of a world dominated by militarized, sexual and sporting power codes, and how these models shape our imagination.
On stage, the dance unfolds in a continuous flow of transformations where precise gestures, postures, gazes, hybrid figures and sustained rhythms reveal the influence of codes of virility and sometimes push them to the grotesque.
The accumulation and layering of movements translate saturation, a reflection of our reality flooded with images.
