A festival in Tembria takes us back with traditional flavors and professions
Tembria is preparing to welcome another year a festival full of tradition, flavors, music and images from another era. The 6th Festival of Traditional Edibles & Professions of Tembria returns on Saturday, September 12, inviting young people and adults to a special afternoon in the village square.
From 16:30, Tembria Square will be filled with traditional dishes, songs, dances and professions that keep live memories and images of the Cypriot life of the past.
Visitors will have the opportunity to try tembriot pisses, hot palouse, trahana, village bread, pedigree fruit, crispy lukoumades and traditional susioukko, while they will experience traditional professions and techniques, such as the distillation of zivania, the shipping of kologzi, the loom and the basket.
Of special interest is the preparation of tembriot satsurs, along with the favorite TV chef Savva Savva, while the program also includes rides on the train for young visitors.
Dimitris Mimireris and Irini Pelagia are taking over the music evening, and a musical program will be presented by AEK Larnaca Cultural Group.
An afternoon dedicated to tradition and cultural heritage, which gives us the opportunity to taste, get to know and remember pieces of Cyprus that deserve to remain alive.
