Coco Elise is the genre‑transcending indie project of Josh Ellis, a producer and singer‑songwriter from Western Australia, who creates a sound that is both unique and familiar. Blending indie folk textures, the warmth of soft rock, and an off‑kilter pop sensibility, Coco Elise writes songs that warm your heart with their personality and a writing style that is both intimate and unpredictable.
What begins as a unique and intriguing production style turns into a captivating live show. Dynamic and rich in sounds, with synths, brass and relentless rhythms, the performance is both playful and precise. The audience doesn’t just watch: they are literally swept up by the show.
Coco Elise has earned the support of leading figures in the music scene, notably being highlighted as an artist by Triple J Uncovered, as well as by Rolling Stone Australia, VICE Australia, EARMILK and Line of Best Fit, not to mention a regular presence in Spotify AU/NZ and Apple Music editorial playlists. The project is also among the most played artists on RTRFM, receives regular airplay on Triple J, and won the Song of the Year award at the WAM Awards for its 2025 single “Colour the Stencil”.
Following a national tour in 2025, Coco Elise shared the stage with artists such as Maribou State (UK), Donny Bennet, Sycco, Playlunch, Sex on Toast and Jazz Emu (UK), gradually building a reputation through its captivating and unconventional live performances.
