American-Swedish who grew up in Paris, Clara Barry likes to make her multiple heritages converse through her repertoire. In the same vein as the history and creativity of jazz, she explores music in a spirit of creolization. From American jazz standards, through Brigitte Fontaine or Gabriel Fauré, she performs a rarely played repertoire, where humor, poetry and swing mingle. Inspired by artists like Blossom Dearie or Betty Carter, she loves songs with rich harmonies and driving rhythms, which tell stories with wit, tenderness and depth.
Accompanied by a trio of like‑minded musicians, she interprets these melodies with authenticity, in a concert where the grandeur of American jazz dialogues with the finesse and poetry of the French repertoire.
