Each section juxtaposes its paintings, drawings, sculptures, tapestries and ceramics with works from the Enlightenment era. The itinerary explores portraiture and the emergence of the individual, the renewed representation of childhood, the attraction to travel and exoticism, then decorative arts.
Claire Tabouret explores identity and human relationships. She addresses portrait, self‑portrait, and child portrait in a singular way, making the child portrait a recurring and characteristic subject of her work. She conducts research on child psychology, appearances and social norms.
Through these correspondences, a sensitive reflection on identity, memory and intimacy is woven, between heritage and contemporary creation. The exhibition thus highlights the relevance of certain artistic questions across the centuries. It finally invites the visitor to look at ancient works with a renewed perspective in the light of current creation.
