For an entire week, the city invites you to see its familiar streets in a new light: fewer cars, more walking, biking, scooters, public transportation, and space for people.
As part of European Mobility Week, Limassol will host a series of events and activities for pedestrians, cyclists, children, teenagers, adults, and seniors—for anyone who has ever dreamed of a city where you can move peacefully at a human pace.
The main idea behind the week is to make urban spaces more accessible, comfortable, and safe for everyone. In 2026, the European campaign places special emphasis on intergenerational equity: transportation and urban infrastructure must take into account the needs of people of all ages—from children and youth to adults and the older generation.
The main event is Car-Free Day.
September 20, 2026, 10:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
Gladstonos Street, Limassol.
Admission is free.
For one day, Gladstonos Street will transform from an ordinary city road into a space for people.
Instead of car traffic, there will be opportunities to walk, socialize, ride, play, and simply enjoy the city.
This isn’t just a protest against cars. It’s an opportunity to imagine what Limassol could be like if the streets belonged not only to cars but also to people.
European Mobility Week is an annual campaign by the European Commission that promotes eco-friendly urban transportation, walking and cycling, public transit, and other sustainable modes of travel. Car-Free Day traditionally serves as the week’s grand finale.
A more detailed program of events will be published by the organizers at a later date.
