Active since 1978, A Cumpagnia cultivates the art of Corsican singing at the crossroads of traditional practice and contemporary creation. Singing and playing one (or several) instrument(s), the members of the ensemble thus strive to transmit a constantly evolving repertoire, both timeless and current. Here, numbering four, they offer a recital split into two parts. The first part, Cantu Sacru, brings together sacred pieces, ancient or recent, that testify to a spirituality deeply rooted in the Corsican land. The second part, Cantu Prufanu, presents secular songs (paghjelle, terzetti and other lamenti) that accompany daily life on the island and express a terribly vivid memory.
