Ravel's Boléro
Boléro is the most performed classical music work in the world with a performance every 15 minutes. At its creation, the composer gave the copyright to his gardener without anticipating its success with the general public.
This work is the archetype of the ostinato. The melody is taken up in turn by the different instruments of the orchestra over a percussion-based rhythmic formula.
Casse-Noisette
Casse-Noisette, Tchaïkovski's ultimate ballet, falls squarely in line with the previous ones: inhabited by the spirit of the tale, mixing the fantastic and the fairy‑tale, driven by a constant concern for dramatic unity. All served by dazzling symphonic mastery and inventiveness.
Le lac Des Cygnes
Inspired by Nordic tales and legends whose main motif is the curse of a transformation into a swan (Le Voile dérobé de Musaüs, Les six frères cygnes de Grimm, Les Cygnes sauvages d’Andersen, etc.), Swan Lake fits more broadly into themes that run through all of Romanticism: mad love and death, infinite desire, dream, the fantastic.
Dynamic and eclectic, the Hélios orchestra has established itself since its founding in 2014.
Its artistic director, Paul Savalle, promotes the professional integration of young musicians through orchestral practice. Thus, recent graduates mingle with orchestra musicians, conductors and experienced soloists, in optimal working conditions.
From baroque music to contemporary music, the programs are varied. As for the repertoire, it is both symphonic and choral, the orchestra partnering with departmental and regional choirs.
Thanks to the collaboration of different conductors, the musicians tackle a very rich repertoire, expanding their interpretive palette. They all come from the great French conservatories, some belonging to a national orchestra.
From string quartet to symphonic orchestra, and through the brass ensemble, the orchestra constantly broadens its audience by modulating its composition. The “strings” formation performs in picturesque locations that could not accommodate a symphonic orchestra, allowing the public to discover a very rich architectural heritage.
In short, thanks to its variable‑geometry formation, the Hélios orchestra approaches the broadest repertoire with passionate curiosity.
