On October 25, the Nicosia Municipal Theater will host an extraordinary multimedia performance titled “Bending Time”—a fusion of live music, electronic music, and visual art.
The duo Copper Curios—Demetris Yasemides and Eva Stavrou—will perform on stage, while artist Avgi Stavrou will create the visuals in real time.
This will not be just a concert, but an immersion into a unique auditory and visual space inspired by the multi-layered history of Nicosia—a city where different eras, cultures, histories, and identities intertwine.
At the heart of the production is the idea of time not as a straight line, but as something alive and fluid. Here, time can slow down and speed up, stretch out, fold in on itself, return to the past, and dissolve the boundaries between the past, present, and future.
The musicians will combine the flute, piccolo, and trombone with electronics, processed natural sounds, improvisation, and atmospheric electronic music. Melodies will intertwine with hypnotic harmonies, electronic textures, and subtle rhythms.
What makes this performance unique is that the visual imagery will not be created in advance but will emerge directly during the performance. The musicians’ breath, the sounds of the keys, electronic processing, and the performers’ movements will transform into an ever-changing visual world.
Music and imagery coexist here—notes become shapes, sound interacts with color, modern technology meets tradition, and the history of Nicosia meets a contemporary artistic vision.
“Bending Time” is an invitation to pause for a moment, step beyond the usual perception of time, and embark on a sensory journey through sound, light, imagery, and memories.
People with disabilities (PwD) are admitted free of charge upon presentation of a valid ID.
