Bachar Mar-Khalifé simultaneously pays tribute and freely interprets the repertoire of Christophe — forever Beau Bizarre of French song. This concert is not accidental. Two people met in 2018 to record together the composition “Jnoun”. Playing with labels, their music cultivates charm and gentle experimentalism. Perhaps they are also united by the Mediterranean, for one Beyrouth as a lost paradise, for the other a dreamy Italy, he, the last of Bevilacqua, who sang “Aujourd'hui j'ai fini / D'inventer ma vie / J'imagine l'Italie”.
Surrounded by Dogan Poyraz on drums and Aleksander Angelov on bass, Bachar Mar-Khalifé lightly touches melodies on his piano, but also seeks in Christophe’s songs a pulse, a passion that breaks through jazz, electro and Lebanese music. As a continuation, he also performs several of his own compositions.
