Author of the unforgettable Kirikou trilogy, Michel Ocelot signs with Azur and Asmar (2006) a new masterpiece of animation that has marked an entire generation. Inspired by the Tales of a Thousand and One Nights, Azur and Asmar address social issues such as social inequalities and the discovery of foreign cultures through the history of two milk brothers - Azur the blond with blue eyes and Asmar the brown with black eyes - raised by the same woman in a green and flowery country. Separated brutally by life from childhood, they will both be animated by the desire to find the Djinn Fairy and embark on an epic rich in teachings that will bring the two brothers together.
The original music of Gabriel Yared, specially rearranged by Robin Melchior for this format, will be performed by the Yellow Socks Orchestra, accompanied by Mohamed Najem on the Ney flute and Yousef Zayed on the Oud, in perfect synchronization with the screening of the film on large screen. The opportunity to rediscover with family this touching and high-perpetence story that addresses both young and old.
