Echoing the exhibition Les Secrets de l’Alhambra, the Institute of the Arab World is organizing a series of round‑table discussions on the history of Al‑Andalus, its figures and its legacies.
On the occasion of the 900th anniversary of the birth of Averroes (Abū al‑Walīd Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad Ibn Rušd, 1126–1198), and echoing the exhibition Les Secrets de l’Alhambra nasride, the Institute of the Arab World offers a focus dedicated to this major figure of philosophy.
Judge, jurist, physician and philosopher in the service of the Almohads, Averroes leaves a work of exceptional scope, which crosses disciplines and permanently marks the intellectual history, from the Arab world to Latin Europe.
