At the end of 2024, the Centre, also known as the ship, launched its biennial Archipel#Chaos-Monde with a Focus dedicated to overseas and pan‑African territories. These Meetings aimed, to use Dipesh Chakrabarty’s expression, to “provincialize” the European gaze and bring together voices that shake the economies of thought and ignite epistemic disobedience.
In this second edition, what creates connection, what creates language will be the Mediterranean – considered as a potentially unifying element not by reducing to similarities but by valuing an ethics of the multiple, the diverse and the irreducible.
In the shadow of certainties², the liquid zones, the flow zones, the Mediterranean offers the opportunity for a metaphorical narrative that parabolisizes re‑thought othernesss, the crossings, the circulations, the migrations.
Archipel#Chaos-Monde will also have as an “island” an Anarkhè‑Exposition⁶ called “Asile‑Exodus & Fuga”; this will bring together works that probe the issues of human and non‑human exiles, inviolability, exoduses, refuges, shelter and also mutations – works that touch on the notion of asylum, highly polysemic. Works that overturn state‑national and imperialist visions and postures.
