When: 10.09.2026 19:00
Where: 48.859198, 2.354842

In AlUla, creation does not matter: it is built in contact with the territory. Local landscapes, materials and know-how - from the weaving of palm leaves (sa'af) to the construction of raw brick (sa'af), stone carving, ceramics or incense-related traditions - feed a new generation of designers and creators.
At this meeting, Hamad AlHomiedan, Director of Arts and Creative Industries of the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), Simon Garcia, Director of Cultural Development at AFALULA, as well as Aseel Alamoudi designers and the Bahraini - danish studio, AlUla design residency programs, discuss how the initiatives developed in AlUla - Design Residence, AlUla Design Awards and Designathon - encourage a fruitful dialogue between vernacular crafts and contemporary practices, which has become one of the markers of the current Saudi creative scene.
This meeting between heritage and contemporary creation is also at the heart of the exhibition Vie des Formes, whose works and purpose it feeds.
Meeting moderated by AD Middle East.
