For this third session of the Académie d’été, forty‑five young musicians from around the world are experiencing an intense orchestral experience by playing side by side with musicians of the Orchestre de Paris. Organized in two parts (Académie d’été, then Académie Studio in the spring), the Academy is now well positioned in the field of high‑level music pedagogy with its original immersion‑based training model. This closing concert of the Académie d’été is, each session, an opportunity to discover the new generation of orchestral musicians.
Between metaphysical torments and benevolent grace, the two works of this “wordless” program explore the human condition, from the alienating power of chaos to the peaceful revolt of prayer. Imposing, staging the individual's struggle against brutality, barbarism, and all forms of alienation, the “Liturgique” (1946) is both the most expansive and the best‑known of Arthur Honegger’s symphonies. “Liturgique”, the Symphony “Avec orgue” by Camille Saint‑Saëns (1886) is likewise, offering a masterful demonstration of writing. With its grand architectural chords, its radiant stained‑glass lighting, the organ appears only in two of the four movements, not as a soloist but as a colour bringing its solemn spirituality.
