The 12th arrondissement of Paris was born in 1860 by Napoleon III's will to annex to Paris part of the municipalities bordering Bercy and St Mandé. The Fécamp Valley followed the course of Montreuil Creek.
Today, this vast area offers a historical and heritage journey, from the gigantic church of the Holy Spirit to the Art Nouveau buildings, to the good-market houses (HBM) or the remains of old factories.
This guided tour is proposed by the History Committee of the City of Paris.
A dedicated digital journey, valuing the history and heritage of this district of the 12th arrondissement, was realized by the Department of History, Memory and Associative Museums (Directorate of Cultural Affairs) within the framework of the participatory budget of the City of Paris.
