Written by the author Adèle Gascuel from his history, the text returns a lively, direct, deeply incarnate speech. We cross the language of the neighborhood, the stand-up, rap, Moroccan Arabic, the language of prayer, but also Molière and Shakespeare. This plurality of languages and registers composes a theatre as close as possible to a life, far from clichés on the suburbs as exemplary success stories and all traces.
On stage, Brahim Koutari manufactures everything in sight. The places move, the memories appear, the stories replay. What is emerging then is not only the story of a man who would have "found his place" in the theatre, but that of a deeper gesture: bringing in with him a world, a memory, an address, a reality too often left out of the field. As director Catherine Hargreaves writes, the show is not just a simple testimony, it was born of a meeting – that of a trio: a way to remind that theatre can also become a common land.
Between narrative of life, address to the public and power of incarnation, 24 Place Beaumarchais is a transmission show, salutary and gathering. He delivers a speech that speaks of the violence of the subpoenas, but also the possibility to move the lines, to resume his place, to invite others to enter in their turn into the theatre.
