Silikou honors the ancient olives, tradition and culture through a two‑day event dedicated to history, nature and local products
A new cultural and gastronomic event is coming to add to the map of festivals in Cyprus, focusing on one of the most important natural and cultural treasures of the countryside. The Community Council of Silikou officially announced the organization of the 1st Silikou Ancient Olives Festival, which will take place on the weekend of October 3 and 4, 2026.
The new festival aims to become an annual institution for the community, showcasing the impressive ancient olives of the area, the village’s cultural heritage, local products and the unique natural beauty of mountainous Limassol.
The events will be hosted at Silikou Square and the Ladios Museum, offering visitors the chance to learn up close about the history of the olive and olive oil, as well as to experience an authentic Cypriot hospitality.
The festival is expected to combine culture, tradition, gastronomy and entertainment, giving special emphasis to the timeless relationship of the place with the olive, a tree that for centuries has been a symbol of life, prosperity and continuity.
Beyond showcasing the ancient olive trees that adorn the area, the organization aims to highlight local producers, traditional products and the authentic flavors of Silikou, while also boosting agrotourism and the community’s visitor numbers.
The organizers invite the public to become part of a new tradition that aspires to become a reference point for the region and all of Cyprus. More information about the detailed program, artists, activities and parallel events will be announced in the coming period.
